The Up 'N Away Story
Up 'N Away began on a vibrant summer day in 2012 with a small group of committed volunteers determined to change the narrative for inner-city, socially isolated, and economically disadvantaged children. What started as a modest initiative has grown into a thriving community supporting over 600 young people across Hackney and Haringey.
From those early days—when 70 children first found joy and opportunity in our care—our journey has been shaped by the lives we’ve touched. Today, we run a breakfast club for 100 children, an afterschool programme for 120, and vocational courses in first aid, literacy, and baking. Our two-week summer programme welcomes over 600 young minds each year to explore creativity, nature, and self-expression.
We actively involve children in shaping our projects, helping them build confidence, self-esteem, and decision-making skills. Many develop new friendships, healthier habits, and lifelong hobbies. Some even return to volunteer and serve as role models. Children with special needs are welcomed and fully integrated, fostering a culture of inclusion, responsibility, and mutual respect.
Up 'N Away continues to grow with every smile, every shared meal, and every child who rises to realise their potential.

At Up ’N Away, we know many children face poverty, isolation, and limited support. Since 2012, we’ve created safe spaces where children in Hackney and Haringey can enjoy warm meals, learning help, and creative expression.
